Family Ministry

The vision

To see families choose God and eachother over prostitution, drugs, alcohol and other similar dangerous lifestyles.

To see children brought up in a family and community where they receive love, care and acceptance instead of abandonment and rejection.

To see the goodness of Thai culture, together with Biblical teachings, being passed onto families in the region order to break cycles of abuse within families.

To see young women who have been faced with unplanned pregnancies receive the support they need in order to continue throughout their pregnancy, birth and motherhood in good health, strength and joy.

To see Thai fathers spending time with their children and speaking into their lives.

To see Thai village children have the same opportunity to grow and develop as those in the urban areas and be nurtured physically, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually - in their own homes and communities.

Previously called: BETHANY HOME

The story
Bethany Home started as a family ministry in early 2013. The initial vision was for it to be a home for teenagers who were faced with unplanned pregnancies, but as Karis started to build relationships with different mothers and families she came to the realization that it would be wiser to reach out to most of those mothers-at-risk in their own communities rather than taking them away. In almost every crisis situation there is someone in the community or family line that can help. A home should be kept only for those who really have no other way, or in other special circumstances depending on God's leading. In the second year of starting the Bethany Home ministry, Karis held a seminar to reach out to mothers-at-risk and teach them the benefits of a healthy pregnancy, natural birth, breastfeeding, parenting skills, small businesses and handling money. She was then able to very closely reach out to two mothers-at-risk (plus others at longer intervals of time). However by late 2014 as their babies were growing bigger and they went on to new areas of life Karis felt like she needed to take a step back and re-evaluate Bethany Home's vision. The heart and vision that God had given to her was expanding to whole families-at-risk rather than just mothers, and the vision for family ministry is still very alive. The needs are still there, and are in fact bigger than ever. So in late 2014 the Bethany Home ministry was stopped and stays in Karis' heart as a vision of great things to come in the future.
